Designing Distributed Object Systems for Mobile Computing
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article examines the impact of mobile computing on the design of distributed object systems. The de ning characteristics of mobile computing, such as the frequent movement of users and hosts, the scarcity of network and local computing resources available to the mobile host, and the possibility of disconnections, present di cult challenges in providing a highly-available distributed object system. Meeting these challenges requires dynamic resource management techniques in the xed-network architecture as well as optimistic concurrency control techniques to support disconnected operation in the mobile client architecture. Various issues and solutions in dynamic resource management and disconnected operation are discussed. In addition, mobile computing introduces new security concerns in distributed object systems, including the increased possibility of eavesdropping and the need to provide location untraceability for users, hosts, and data residing in objects. Security issues and solutions pertinent to distributed object systems for mobile computing are also discussed.

Coordination Among Mobile Objects
When designing distributed object based systems one is often faced with the problem of modeling the movement of objects from site to site in a dis tributed network In order to model such an activity some supervising or coordination mechanisms are needed to insure correctness of both movement and communication in the network In this paper we propose distributed object based action systems as a b...

In the age of information technology, organizations of all types are seeking to effectively utilize and disseminate information, by designing and developing dependable and secure distributed computing environments that allow existing and future systems to inter-operate. While many existing access control approaches (mandatory, discretionary, and role-based) can be leveraged for the support of s...
متن کاملAn Enhanced MSS-based checkpointing Scheme for Mobile Computing Environment
Mobile computing systems are made up of different components among which Mobile Support Stations (MSSs) play a key role. This paper proposes an efficient MSS-based non-blocking coordinated checkpointing scheme for mobile computing environment. In the scheme suggested nearly all aspects of checkpointing and their related overheads are forwarded to the MSSs and as a result the workload of Mobile ...
متن کاملA new mobile state protocol for Distributed Oz
One of the most important issue to address when designing an object-oriented language for distributed programming is related to object mobility. We present a new mobile state protocol for ensuring mutually exclusive access to mobile objects and cells in Distributed Oz. The protocol greatly improves the locality and scalability properties. It also allows potentially to overcome the problem of fa...
متن کاملAn Architecture Supporting Loose and Close Cooperation of Distributed Autonomous Systems
There is a general trend in designing distributed control systems to give an increasing amount of autonomy to the individual nodes of such systems. Autonomous nodes interact only loosely. But also, close cooperation under hard real-time constraints is required in certain situations. This paper analyzes approaches for structuring distributed control systems and presents an architecture integrati...
